Southwark counts on you.

To become a foster carer

We deeply empathize with the situation that some children cannot remain with their biological families, and thus require foster care. Our goal now is to find and provide the most exceptional homes for them. Will you lend a helping hand?

In Southwark and across London, many vulnerable children are in desperate need of a loving and supportive home. Sadly, there is a shortage of foster carers available and far too many children are left without a place to call their own. At GLF, we’re on a mission to change that. We are determined to recruit 15 new families who are willing to open their hearts and homes to children in their community.

If you’re interested in becoming a foster carer, we encourage you to download our comprehensive guide to fostering. This resource will provide you with more information about the process and answer many common questions. Alternatively, if you prefer speaking with a real person, please give us a call on 0208 347 8741 and our friendly team will be happy to help.

As one of our foster carers, you will receive round-the-clock support and financial assistance to help you care for your child. Our weekly payments cover all the basic needs, including food, clothing, and schooling. For more complex cases, we provide additional funding to ensure that you’ll have the resources you need to provide the very best care.

Currently, our carers receive:

– £450 for children aged 0-10

– £475 for children aged 11+

– £550-1600 for more complex cases

Not only will you be providing a safe and nurturing environment for a child in need, you’ll also be making a real difference in your community. Join our team and become a foster carer today. We’re here to support you every step of the way on this rewarding journey.

We asked our carer Jacqui, what's the best thing about fostering?

Everyday is different, I'm never bored, that's probably the best thing. It's not like raising your own children, you have to face different challenges everyday.
