What is foster to adopt?
Fostering to adopt is a scheme whereby an individual or couple is approved both as a foster carer and an adopter.
A foster to adopt placement, can mean a child who comes into care, can be placed with a family who have already made a lifelong commitment to care for a child
There are downsides, for instance a family might foster a child who eventually returns to it’s birth family. This can be in the best interests for the child, but be traumatic for the potential adoptive family.
